Marvin is approximately 11yo, 16.1 H, seal bay, warmblood gelding who came from auction in Texas. We do not know anything about Marvin as no information was passed along. When we got him he was thin with a very poor topline and terrible hooves. He is a big, sweet boy, but also very unsure of himself and can be quite pushy, so he is receiving some much needed training to make him a good partner to someone some day.
Marvin needs to gain alot of weight so his training is very modified so he can gain weight but still be worked with. He will be available for adoption when his training is complete.
UPDATE:
Marvin has come along way so far regarding his pushiness and being handled on the ground. We are still working on putting weight on him before we can start riding him; however, we have saddled him which he took without an issue.
We are waiting until spring to ride Marvin. Marvin's biggest issue is standing tied quiet. Marvin is a bit spoiled and likes to paw if he's tied by himself and nobody is brushing him. That said, Marvin has never pulled back or broken anything while being tied, he will just paw. We are continuing to work with him on this but it is more difficult in the winter. That said, Marvin is a lover and just wants someone to want him:)
UPDATE:
Marvin has spent 30 days of training with 4 Sister's Horsemanship this summer. They rode Marvin quite a bit, but he was very anxious under saddle and did rear a few time. Marvin is very unsure of himself. Marvin needs someone who is willing to consistently work with him and gain his trust as his leader. Marvin doesn't have a mean bone in his body and is just really scared of alot of things. It makes a person wonder what this poor guy has been through in his past. Marvin needs an experienced owner and therefore, we have lowered his adoption fee if someone is willing to give him a chance.
Please consider sponsoring. If you are interested in adoption prior to completion of his rehab and training please contact us as this is possible a case by case basis.
