Buttercup is an owner surrender. Her previous owners stated that they owned her their whole life from when the bought her at auction as a weanling. She was used to trail ride alot and was also used in 4H playdays many years ago but has not been in ridden in several years now.
Her previous owners no longer lived on the farm where she was at and she was diagnosed with COPD which required management so they thankfully surrendered her to us. Buttercup is on a monthly medication to help control her COPD/Heaves. Since we've had her, the medication seems to be helping immensely and we will continue to manage as we get warm weather. If she seems to be doing fine with her breathing this spring we will work on getting her in shape under saddle; however, due to her COPD, she will only be recommended as a walk and possibly trot trail horse if things keep improving in the spring. Again, we will update the page at that time as things progress.
Buttercup is a very friendly horse that is easy to catch and just wants your attention and to be loved. She's quickly become one of the favorites by our volunteers!
Buttercup is not currently available for adoption until we can be sure that her COPD/heaves continues to be managed throughout the spring into summer. If you are interested in her in the meantime, please feel free to reach out to us so we know if you are interested when she is available for adoption!
